Personalising Your Conservatory / Orangery
There are a variety of options to customise the exterior and interior of your new South Lakes Windows conservatory. Here we explore just some of the ways you can add your own, unique finishing touches to personalise your UPVC Conservatory.
Conservatory Colour Options
Personalise your South Lakes Windows conservatory further with exciting colour options and make your new home improvement really stand out from the crowd – Let your imagination run wild!
Foil Colours
The colours have been carefully selected by analysing popular trends and – in addition to the white foil that is also offered – give users of the Ultraframe system a further way to differentiate themselves from the competition. Whilst spray painting of roof components has been the usual way to offer colours, the Ultraframe Classic roof is foil wrapped. The foil laminated products used on major items in the roof and on the PVC side frames, have a real woodgrain texture to add a further dose of character. The products can be coloured one side or both, with the possibility to mix colours between the outside and the inside. Colour – applied correctly – has a profound positive effect on your wellbeing. It strongly influences how we interact with each other and our surroundings. So, what can you consider for your home and conservatory? Consider this:
Black
Powerful, sophisticated, substantial, uncompromising
White/Cream
Has some of the characteristics of black with the addition of cleanliness and purity
Green
Related to nature, offers harmony and balance
Grey
Neutral, can work well with other colours, acting as a support to them
Irish Oak/ Wood Grain
For a traditional wood appearance without the need for an expensive timber conservatory

Ultraframe Conservatory Glazing Options
Glass or Polycarbonate?
Glass
If you’re specifically wanting to bring a lot more light into your home, then a glass roof is the right choice for you. High performance roof glass works by deflecting heat from the sun in Summer to keep the inside of the conservatory cooler and by retaining the warmth from heating appliances in the Winter. It also features a true self clean coating that uses the power of the sun to break down organic deposits and then uses rainwater to wash it clean away. Conservaglass TM * is a brand of high-performance glazing material that is unique to Ultraframe. Especially developed for UK weather conditions, a glass roof allows you to enjoy a view of the sky by day or night. ConservaglassTM is available in Neutral Clear or Subtle Blue
Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate roof glazing is a lower cost alternative to glass but still provides excellent thermal properties and aesthetics. Polycarbonate is available in a range of colours, thicknesses, and specifications:
- Clear
- Bronze
- Solar control
- Opal
- Bronze/opal
Glazing Style
Conservatory glass available as Standard, Georgian Bar, Leaded Diamond & Leaded Square
Conservatory Climate Control
Ventilation is key within the structure of conservatory roofs, so you can be assured that by choosing a South Lakes Windows conservatory with an Ultraframe roof you’re protecting your conservatory from the elements and the potential for problems. By specifying a conservatory with an Ultraframe roof, you will be able to benefit from these ventilation features (minimisation of condensation, for example) and enjoy your conservatory more of the year and your conservatory will have a long, trouble-free and low maintenance lifespan.
Trickle ventilation Incorporated into every roofing system is the high security patented trickle ventilation system allowing a constant flow of air. A steady flow of air is essential in any conservatory to minimise condensation and reduce heat gain in those summer months.
Eavesflow Introducing ventilation as low down as possible is desirable to create a cross-flow of air. The Eavesflow Unit is ideal when the design features a multi-eaves beam, providing cross-flow ventilation and aiding the natural convection currents by which air circulates in a conservatory.
Roof vents Ultraframe roof vents are bespoke to fit perfectly into the slope of your roof and match the design of your conservatory. Most feature the manual brass worm opening mechanism with a long handled opening pole, but there is also an electrical mechanism. For the ultimate in luxury, we can add a thermostat and rain sensor for automatic, weather-sensitive opening and closing.
Ceiling Fans The Ultraframe fan range offers the choice of six stylish designs. The fans are supplied complete with lights and the option of a remote control. A choice of blade colours ensures all tastes are catered for, while the 3 year standard warranty provides additional peace of mind.
- 3 speed settings – to suit your needs whatever the weather
- Optional remote control
- Light timer – energy efficient
- Summer/Winter settings
- 2 year standard warranty – for your peace of mind
- Reversible blades – offers more options
Conservatory Heating Don’t forget that as well as maintaining a cool temperature over the Summer months, there are also times of year when you may need to consider heating your conservatory. Again, there are several options which you can consider – your South Lakes Windows installer will discuss the merits of each and help you to decide which is best suited to your conservatory. Some of the options are:
- Extend your home’s central heating system and fit radiators in your conservatory
- Underfloor heating
- Electric wall heaters
- Freestanding heating appliances
Decorative Fittings
Finials & Crestings
Buyers now have an even wider choice when it comes to customising the exterior of their new Ultraframe conservatory roof thanks to a choice of four different finials and five crestings. The range now includes the new easy clean Pikestaff finial and Renaissance cresting. Its streamlined body allows water to run off easily and the easy clean PVC means it stays cleaner for longer reducing maintenance.
Tie Bars
Tie bars are structural members that ensure conservatory roof stability. They are not really an “option” as such because on pre-fabricated roofs they are specified by Ultraframe when needed and therefore must be installed.
Tie bars, although a structural component, have been designed to be as attractive as possible and feature a decorative rose. Three-way, five-way and special units are available in white, brown, brass and chrome.
Ultraselect
An exciting range of decorative strips to personalise the interior fascia board of a conservatory and add a touch of flair! Ultraselect is unique to Ultraframe conservatory roofing systems and is fast and easy to install – simply slide into place.
Over 20 designs ensure that there is an Ultraselect design to suit every taste.
Decorative Fascia
Another decorative option to further personalise your new conservatory is a decorative fascia (DFT), available in white or timber woodgrains (oak, mahogany and rosewood).
Cornice
The cornice adds a further level of elegance to the classic roof. Cornice hides the existing gutter providing smooth clean site lines. This can be included on all new classic roofs and can also be retro fitted.
