Village Life Windows
Residence Nine double glazing is designed to replicate the Flush Sash window designs found in village cottage properties. It enables you to replace windows with an authentic design and in authentic traditional colours, without losing the character and feel of the period. You can achieve this in a virtually maintenance free composite material!
This pretty little cottage looks as authentic as it always did but now has virtually maintenance free cream coloured Residence 9 windows fitted; a perfect contrast to the distinctive brickwork and timber-like front door.
Authentic Butt Hinge
Window manufacturing technology may have accelerated fast but there is nothing like adding the human element. Residence 9 windows combine contemporary machine processes with hand finished joints to craft a beautiful window every time. Hand finished craftsmanship you will find on very few modern alternatives as modern windows are welded.
Handles
You can personalise your Residence 9 windows with a choice of handles. The Monkeytail and Peardrop designs were popular designs of the period. If your room is more contemporary you can also specify more modern finishes like Chrome, Brass or a Gorgeous Pewter Patina.
Weatherbar
Old timber windows often had a raised moulding that ran horizontally across the transom. This bar looked distinctive and gave the window depth and character. Its function was to shed dripping water and to increase the strength. That’s why we recreated the feature with Residence 9.
Period Living
Many properties in our cities were built with sash windows at street level and flush casements in the upper floors and rear elevations. These windows were usually tall and grand. Residence 9 is designed for this application and can be manufactured in sizes and styles to replicate the originals.
Your Residence 9 windows will have deep ornate detailing to the inside, flush sash to the outside and can be fitted with period hardware such as handles and peg stays. Georgian Bar latticework to the glass can be replicated using our bespoke sections.
Georgian Bar Lattice
Our bespoke sections are hand applied by Craftsmen to create the traditional Georgian Latticework found in Period Townhouses. The mouldings exactly replicate the deep decorative detailing inside and the chamfered putty line outside.
Bays & Cornerposts
Period houses often had bay windows. There were Grand Entrances to the front and Garden Rooms to the rear. You can authentically recreate these cornerposts and joints with your Residence 9 installation. If your house is from the 1930’s, then we can recreate your period bay windows. Our detailing is authentic.
Flush Sash
In the 19th Century the window designs had a Flush Sash. This image shows the Residence 9 Flush Sash appearance from the outside. Note the traditional Butt Joints where the sections are joined. This can only be achieved with Craftsmen and not with automated machinery and this technology is unique to Residence 9!
The Town House
Living in an Old Townhouse can sometimes be at odds with a modern family lifestyle. The windows are likely to be single glazed, drafty and need regular maintenance. Some windows might not open easily or at all. Improved security may be on your mind.
Morning condensation is such a bore. New Residence 9 windows will help resolve these problems and will enhance your home without detriment to the period features that actually drew you to the property!
Matching Rebates
Residence 9 windows are designed with an “easy clean” rebate finished to match your window. The easy clean design avoids sharp corners and undercuts which attract dirt and grime. When opening the window, it not only looks the same but it is very easy to wipe down and clean.
Deep Decorative Detailing
The internal depth and shape is authentic and gives an elegant style and distinctively deep appearance to the windows strong sections. Residence 9 has a 100mm frame depth (most other modern windows are only 70mm).
Noise & Thermal Insulation
Townhouses can be upgraded to significantly reduce exterior noise pollution. By specifying triple glazed panes for use with our nine chambered frame design you can achieve new market leading performance for sound and thermal insulation.
Georgian Windows
The classical design of period Georgian Windows have high quality, symmetrical detail and an unmistakable window style that offer delightful charm to the architecture of the period.
Our Georgian window design contains the same iconic and beautiful detail, meticulously recreated to preserve the original character of your home.
Georgian Bar Latticework
The Georgian Bar Latticework of graceful, slim, glazing bars is immediately identifiable for a property from this period. You can specify R9 windows with hand applied Georgian Bars to match the decorative shape internally and external putty line chamfer. The period features are authentically recreated with the benefit of high performance glazing units.
Patterning
Whatever the original pattern style of your traditional Georgian windows, Residence 9 can cater to your window needs. Bespoke builds to order allow all variations, such as “four-over-sixes” and “eight-over-eights”, as well as the traditional “six-over-sixes” in Georgian patterning style.
Window Furniture
Residence 9 Georgian style windows can come with interior handles, suitably indicative of this period and in a range of styles & finishes. These authentic hardware details can include Monkeytail or Peardrop handle shapes along with matching and working window peg stays.
Cottage Windows
The idyllic country Cottage is the essence of rural, British charm. The installation of Residence 9 windows will ensure the traditional style and grace of your home is long lasting.
R9 Cottage windows perfectly capture the classic British look and feel that made you fall in love with your home in the first place.
Hand Finished Details
Window manufacturing technology may have accelerated fast but there is nothing like adding the human element. Residence 9 windows combine contemporary machine processes with hand finished joints to craft a beautiful window every time. Hand finished craftsmanship you will find on very few modern alternatives as modern windows are welded.
Handles
It is essential that the window handles and peg stays fitted to your cottage windows complement both the frame itself and the interior of your property. In the handmade range, you can choose Black or Pewter Patina finishes. You could also choose from the eclectic mix of a traditional Monkeytail shape in a modern Chrome or Brass effect finish!
Finishes
Residence 9 flush sash windows offer a number of authentic oak finishes and traditional style paint colours from ‘Grained White’ to ‘Silvered Oak’. Complementary finishes on both the inside and outside are also available, if that is what suits your cottage property best.
Colours & Finishes
Original 19th Century windows were always painted and never stained. This is why Residence 9 is only available in a range of traditional authentic colours.
The most popular window colour is grained white, however if the white is too bright and crisp, why not try “clotted cream” or the unique “cotswold biscuit”. Other traditional colours are also available and for more modern properties there are some very contemporary greys and stunning pastel greens.
Mixed Colours
Colours can be mixed, for example you could have “Cotswold Biscuit” on the exterior and an “Irish Oak” finish on the interior for example if it matched your kitchen décor. Experiment with colour… if your windows are green but that doesn’t match your bedroom décor, then go for green exterior, white interior! Or black frames and white sashes for that traditional Tudor cottage style
Easy Clean Rebates
Whatever colour you choose, the finish is applied to the rebates of the frames and mullions so that when you open a window, you see the same finish. On the sash, the base material is colour matched. Not only do we apply a finish to the frame rebates but R9 has unique “easy clean rebates” with generous curves and smooth surfaces instead of sharp corners and undercuts causing dirt traps. When wiped with a damp cloth, they will clean up like new! Guaranteeing your new investment looks great for years to come.
Conservation Areas
Many of our towns local streetscapes rely on authentic historic windows for much of their architectural impact and character. Inappropriate, poor quality upvc replacement windows can easily spoil traditional features on historic buildings.
Due to its authentic appearance Residence 9 is ideal for use in conservation areas. It replicates the 19th Century Flush Sash Timber Window design. The authentic design is also appealing to any homeowner looking for a premium quality luxury window brand.
Made in Britain
Every Residence 9 window is purpose built to your requirements. You can customise everything including the colour, style and window hardware. Every R9 window is different.
Skilled craftsmen manufacture your window to your own sizes and specification. The Residence 9 mechanical joints require finesse and expertise and can only be executed with hand finishing by craftsmen who are masters of their trade.
Only by replacing machinery with craftsmen can you achieve the traditional jointing features which make Residence 9 stand apart from the modern mitred and welded alternatives.
